The daily photo is no more. For most of the summer I was struggling to catch up, and now that school has started, I don’t have much motivation to revive the project.
I still love photography. In part because of this website, I am now in the highly enviable position of getting paid to take pictures part-time, and that’s wonderful.
At the same time, I’m feeling tired of the photo-a-day format, and the pressure created by it. This is my third year in Medford/Somerville, and there are only so many interesting shots I can find within the same radius of home. And sadly, photographing the school professionally has taken a lot of the spark out of doing it for a hobby. I still look forward to photographing the interesting people and places that I come across, and to sharing those pictures online—but I no longer think I need to be taking pictures every single day.
In total, 1000 Photos lasted for 690—about a month shy of two years. I enjoyed it, and I think it was worthwhile, but I don’t want to drag it out to the point where it becomes a burden, or—even worse—a bore.
Watch this spot for something new within the next few weeks. In the mean time, I’ve put all the thumbnails together on a single archive page, and I’ll be checking my email.
